Umi Jigoku (Oita Prefecture): The grandest hot spring area in Kyushu

Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) is one of Beppu’s most iconic "hells," famous for its vibrant cobalt blue hot spring. Named for its striking resemblance to the ocean, the water reaches temperatures of around 98°C.

Inside the park, you can enjoy a mystical landscape with rising steam and beautiful tropical water lilies, making it a must-visit destination in Beppu.
